Library Services:

Wireless Internet Access:

Free Wi-Fi service is accessible 24/7. Patrons may use the own devices inside or outside the library when the building closed.

DVDs:

Patrons may check out three DVDs for seven days. 

Interlibrary Loan:

If the library doesn’t own the book or movie a patron wants, it can be borrowed it from another library at no charge.

Rotating Books:

More than 300 books from North Central Kansas Libraries are exchanged every two months.

Outside Book Return:

There is a drop box in front of the library for after-hours returns.

Four Public Computers:

Computers are available for use during regular business hours. Those taking tests or completing job applications have priority. 

Homebound Book Deliveries:

Books can be delivered to the curb or to patrons’ homes. Please call the library at 785-2358-2011 to make arrangements. 

Copy or Prints:

The library charges $0.15 per page for page for black and white copies and $0.25 per page for Color. Items may bed scan for free.

Fax Machine:

The cost is $1.00 for the first page, and $0.50 for every page after.

Audio Books:

Books on CD are offered at the library. These are great for travelers or those making a daily commute. 

Story Times:

Fall and spring story times for youngsters are offered. Contact the library or watch the outside information board for specific dates and times.

Summer Reading Program:

Contact the library for specific dates and times. Summer reading is offered for all ages. 

Adult Programs:

Various programs are offered as staff members’ time permits or at the request of patrons. Among the past programs were sewing pillows, making wreaths and creating Christmas ornaments. 

Children's Programs:

Several holiday programs are scheduled throughout the year. Craft events are also offered regularly. Watch the Facebook page or outside information board for details. 

Meeting Room:

Contact the library for more details on using the basement.

Kansas Library Card:

A Kansas library card allows patrons to check out electron books. See the library director to obtain a state card. 

Magazines and Newspapers:

The library has subscriptions to more than 10 magazines and three newspapers: The Herington Times, The Abilene Reflector Chronicle and The Salina Journal.

Test Proctor Service:

For those taking on-line classes, the library offers test proctor services. Please contact the library director to arrange for testing.

State of Kansas eCard:

State of Kansas Library has several different apps.

You will need a State of Kansas Library card number (available at HPL). 

KSL Number: ex 999999

AND password (your birthday mm/dd/yyyy): ex 01/01/2020.

Click on DIGITAL BOOK eLENDING.  There you will see several different apps for either eAudiobooks or eBooks.  Each one is a little different and has instructions for use.  When you click on the instructions, you will learn if the app is compatible with your device.

Visit the Herington Public Library and get a library number from the staff.
