Library Policies:

Internet Policy:

Free Wi-Fi service is accessible 24/7. Patrons may use the own devices inside or outside the library when the building closed.

Checkout Limits:

Patrons may check out up to 8 items at a time with a limit of 3 DVDs.

Family Cards can have extended limits based on children.

*New Patrons have a 3 item limit for the first 6 weeks.

Inter Library Loan:

If the library doesn’t own the book or movie a patron wants, it can be borrowed it from another library at no charge. It may take up to two weeks for the material to arrive.

Rotating Books:

More than 300 books from North Central Kansas Libraries (NCKLS) are exchanged every two months. These books range from Large Print to picture books.

Public Computers:

There are 3 laptops that are available for use during regular business hours. They have printing capabilities. Those taking tests or completing job applications have priority. 

Copy & Prints:

The library charges:

$0.10 per page for black and white copies/prints

$0.25 per page for color copies/prints

We also have a scanner available for use.

Outside Book Return:

There is a drop slot in front of the library for after-hours returns.

Story Times:

Toddler Story Time is offered every 2nd and 4th Tuesdays at 10 am. Special evening programs will try to be scheduled on 5th Tuesdays.

This schedule does not apply to June for summer reading.

Summer Reading Program:

Generally summer reading is from the last Wednesday in May to June 31. Programs are on Tuesday mornings in June. Contact the library for specific dates closer to summer or check out the “Summer Reading” Tab.

Adult Programs:

Various programs are offered as staff members’ time permits or at the request of patrons. We have had guest speakers and take home crafts in the past. Keep an eye out for the future.

Children's Programs:

Programs and crafts are offered periodically based on interest. Watch the Facebook page or outside information board for details. 

Kansas Library Card:

A Kansas library card allows patrons to check out electron books. See the library director to obtain a state card. 

Magazines and Newspapers:

We are hoping to start getting subscriptions to a few magazine and newspaper but at this time we do not.

Test Proctor Service:

*Not available at this time.* For those taking on-line classes, the library offers test proctor services. Please contact the library director to arrange for testing.

Once the app is downloaded you will set up your own account. If help is needed please stop by or contact the library.

State of Kansas Library has several different apps.

You will need a State of Kansas Library card number (available at HCL). 

KSL Number: ex 999999

AND password (your birthday mm/dd/yyyy): ex 01/01/2020.

Click on DIGITAL BOOK eLENDING.  There you will see several different apps for either eAudiobooks or eBooks.  Each one is a little different and has instructions for use.  When you click on the instructions, you will learn if the app is compatible with your device.

Card Catalog Instructions:

Using Hope Community Library’s On-Line Card Catalog

Visit the Hope Community Library and register for a library number.

After you have received your number, you will have the option to make an account with Librarika services. This will allow you personal account access and also access to the catalog of items.
